Kooky Spooks Custome Kit

Here are some photo's I found online of the trick-or-treating costumes with the giant blow-up monster heads from the 80's called "Kooky Spooks". I really dig the one of the two little girls ready for some trick-or-treating. I remember every Oct. bugging my mummy to buy me one, but she instead would hand make my costumes every year....not that I'm complaining, since they always rocked the graveyard.

Oh My God!
That's what they were called! I have two photos of me from 1979 (that's what someone had written on the back of the polaroid), wearing that inflatable yellow cat head! I had been on ebay a couple of times trying to find out what those costumes were called, and check out the others that were made. Thanks for posting this!

I stumbled upon your site after a conversation with my husband about the crazy costumes my mom made us wear as kids. I had a yellow one...must have been the cat...and my brother had the black one. We were the LAUGHING STOCK of our elementary school on Halloween!!! During trick or treating, kids and PARENTS laughed and pointed at both of us. Now, as a 33 year old, I vividly remember wishing I could kill my mom for putting us through such humiliation! I sure wish I had a picture of me in that costume, as it would be a great laugh! I'll have to call Mom and see if she has an old pic or can remember what year it was. Great site....and thanks for the memories!!!

Hey, I was searching for the Kooky Spooks costumes because I wanted my daughter to be able to wear it too and found your blogs and was shocked to see myself! I'm the girl in the green Kooky Spooks costume. I loved my costume but our mom wouldn't let us wear the face paint. I would love to find those costumes again so my daughter (5) and I (33) could wear matching costumes on Halloween!

I was just trying to tell people about these today! I thought they were called "Beanie Boppers." Does anyone remember that commercial from the 80s? There was a weird bug-like voice that just kept repeating, "Beanie boppers, beanie boppers."

THANK you SO much for posting this picture & blog. I stumbled upon some school pictures from 1979-1980 era and couldn't for the life of me recall what the silly costumes with inflatable heads were called. You made my day!

LOl....this has really made my day. Just like everyone else, I've tried to describe this costume to my kids ages 6 and 11. They looked at me as if I lost my mind. I even tried to jog my mom's memory about this but she kept saying I don't remember. Now that I found the pictures I can finally show them that I wasn't crazy after all these years, thanks a bunch.

My sister stumbled across this pic while searching for kooky costumes. I know Elaine said this was her in the photo. But the two girls look exactly like my sisters when they were younger. Nearly identical! Which would be weird because I don't know how this pic would've made it on the internet. I remember them having these costumes. I'm going to have to run this photo by my dad and see if he recognizes it.
