Joining the Monster Shindig

Here's another spooky, scary record for all the little monster kids out there in Kreepsville that I accuired this past Oct. from Jason over at Scar Stuff. Released in 1966 from Hanna-Barbera called "Monster Shindig" is ghoulish gem that features some kreepy-delic music by Danny Hutton such as; "The Monster Jerk", and other tracks featuring my all time favorite monster cartoon family, "The Gruesome's" from "The Flintstones" such as; "Joining the Monster Shindig". And lets not forget the way KOOL cartoon cover! If you haven't figured it by now this album is the reason why I named this blog and 1313 comic book what I did. It's brought me long witching hours of joy while making all sorts of unspeakable horror's in the haunted lab.

Enjoy!

As an owner of original UK & US copies of this fantastic album, THANK YOU for creating the chance for many others to hear and appreciate it. Shame there doesn't seem to be any cartoon of it to watch........unless you know better???

I received the Monster Shindig EP as a gift for my 7th birthday back in 1967. As is the case with any item like that, it went by the wayside and was consumed by life. Now, 39 years later, what do I find? Thanks so much for this really great reminder of childhood.

Thank you so much for posting this!
I had this as a kid, and don't have a clue what ever happened to it. It brings back great memories.

As everyone else has said, I too had this album when I was a kid and treasured it until it was handed down to my nephews. Of course after years of that the albums are sooo scratched they are unlistenable. I thank you so much for making this available. Memories......

Duuuude,
I've been looking for "Monster Shindig" for sometime now. It is just about the one thing from my childhood that I haven't been able to find on the internet. Talk about nostalgia. Thanks soo much. I can now die a happy man.

Wow, how many copies of Monster Shindig were sold back then? My best guess is that I got mine for Christmas 1966, when I was eight. You have to wonder how they got along playing the same songs twice. For all of these years, I've had snippets of "Monster Shindig" and "Monster Jerk" playing in my head, but I was actually delighted to find the music better than I thought, and the jokes are occasionally not terrible.

I also remembered, before hearing it again, that this was the first time in my life that I had heard the word "party" used as a verb. It seemed odd to me at the time, but it would become quite popular in the seventies.

Monster Shindig ... I got the 45 as a kid from an uncle. If I can't listen to that song, Halloween just cannot happen.
